1. Dozen Eggs
A great source of protein and a tasty choice for breakfast, eggs have been a staple of the American diet for many years. Eggs come in many sizes and colors and are found in every grocery store. Natural Grocers is my preferred store for eggs. Their eggs are cage-free and free-range, which means the chickens have plenty of room to roam, resulting in a healthier product. Natural Grocers also sells eggs without added hormones or growth promoters that accelerate the chicken's growth and egg-laying rate. As a result, Natural Grocers can sell the eggs for a higher price to a health-conscious consumer. However, Natural Grocers offers special prices for members during certain times of the year, making their egg prices highly competitive.

They also price their milk similarly. While these stores use bright colors, advertisements, and coupons to promote their product, which influences more people to buy their milk, Walgreens prices their milk much higher because they charge for convenience. If I choose to shop at Walgreen's, I pay nearly 3x the amount I'd pay at a regular grocery store. Personally, I think Walgreen's prices are ridiculous, and I would rather drive (read: make my mom drive) farther than pay extra for convenience. Furthermore, these stores sell pasteurized, homogenized milk from grain-fed cows. Pasteurization is the process of heating milk until the bad bacteria is killed. Our family drinks raw milk from grass-fed cows, which is unpasteurized and unhomogenized, but it costs much more than store-bought milk. Raw milk is $12.00 per gallon, and my family is willing to make the sacrifice as it is much healthier. Unfortunately, the sale of raw milk is prohibited in Albuquerque. We can only purchase it directly from a dairy farm or from one store in the county. This scarcity contributes to the expensive price. Raw milk is a superfood, and I wish it were accessible to …show more content…
There are as many different coffee mug slogans as there are Frappuccino flavors. Most people don't notice or care what quality their coffee mug is, as long as it contains coffee. But coffee connoisseurs certainly appreciate a quality mug. As with everything, quality equals a higher price. Coffee mugs range from Target's inexpensive $4.99 to Pottery Barn's $40.00 mugs. (Again, name brands such as Pottery Barn drive the price higher.) As I was doing my research for this project, I noticed that a mug with a catchy slogan cost $8.00, whereas one without the slogan was priced at $3.00. To choose the one that's right for you, just ask yourself: what would I buy? Would I rather have the fun slogan with gold swirls or the unattractive plain white mug? Furthermore, seasonal coffee mugs can sell for more as they are only on display once a year. I enjoy looking at the funny slogans on coffee mugs, but I rarely drink hot beverages so I'm not an ideal consumer. But I would definitely buy one for my mom who's never seen without a cup of
