Walter Melvin Hankins III is currently placed in the home of Charles and Melissa Payne. On February 28, 2009, a report was made to DCFS hotline indicating that the paternal autn and caregiver of Walter Hankins III, age5, due to abandonment, had died due to medical problems. Walter's parents whereabouts were unknown. The reporter indicated that the fater had been allegedly released from prison on November of 2008. The reported was uncertain what to do in terms of caring for Walter. Walter was placed in relative substitute care. His parents were located and opted to work with DCFS for family reunification purposes. Walter has moved eight times during his time in foster care. On 2/28/2009, he was placed in the home of a relative placement.
