Considered one of the oldest forms of social dance, the waltz is known in its many forms. Each country seems to have its own rendition of the waltz. Sticking to the basic of a ¾ time spread and its delicate yet powerful movements. So much history is behind this famous dance with every step dancers take. Originating in Austria and Vienna, this dance slowly became the most popular in courtrooms. The waltz, in any of the forms, is still enjoyed by many present day.

Since the beginning of time, there have been many forms of self-expression. Art, music, and dance are the majority. At around the seventeenth century, the waltz was a common peasant dance in Vienna and Austria, eventually making its way into the ballrooms of Western Europe, France and England.

Movements were to glide gracefully, almost like a swan. One of the first renditions of the waltz included the Viennese waltz. The Viennese waltz is a faster pace waltz, but still in the ¾ time as the traditional.
