Would you like to hear about how Spain played a MAJOR role in the American Revolution? So pretty much Spain and Great Britain had had some problems for many years which had annoyed them so when France asked Spain to help them fight Great Britain Spain said yes. Then they supplied America with some supplies for battle and made sure Britain would not win. On June 21st 1779 Spain declared war on Great Britain. Spain declared war on Great Britain for the many reasons of wanting to regain their land which Great Britain had stolen from them, the many, many years of political and religious differences that they had, and the fact that they didn’t want to be seen as on Great Britain's side during the war, etc. So because of these many reasons they decided to sign a treaty with France and the United States of America to fight England on December 17th of 1718. Several things happened in the United States of America because that was the place mostly affected by this war, such as, The Stamp Act, The Boston Massacre, Lexington and Concord and the Boston Tea Party. 13 of the American colonies destroyed any and all of their connections to Great Britain. On April 12th of 1779, Spain signed the Treaty of Aranjuez with France, which was Spain agreeing to support the French in their own war against Great Britain. In return (assuming a victory) Spain would be taking back their territories that Great Britain had stolen from them.
