In 1846 America annexed Texas and sent troops down to what they thought was the border. When they did this mexican troops killed American soldiers and so America declared war with Mexico. The United States was justified in going to war with Mexico because American soldiers were just trying to protect American land when Mexican soldiers shot at them.The document that I am using to help prove my point is document B which was a message to congress by president Polk to ask to declare war.
