America has never been a nation to run from an invitation to war. I am trying to answer the question of whether America was/was not becoming a warrior nation from the colonial era to the end of the War of 1812. A lot of people are under the impression that America wasn’t a warrior nation, they might’ve missed a couple key history lessons because we Americans are not to be taken lightly. America was starting to become a warrior nation because the Pequot war by killing the natives for getting in the way of expanding Jamestown, Fort Ticonderoga by defending it from the French despite being outnumbered eighteen to one and finally the Boston tea party for so boldly throwing over a million dollars’ worth of tea into the water dressed at Natives to shift the blame. They basically told the British to take their import taxes (specifically tea) and shove it where the son doesn’t shine. Everyone knew it wasn’t the Natives that destroyed all the tea. This ended up having a massive impact on society, by boycotting the highly taxed tea it opened doors for change. People started replacing tea with coffee. It changed the social norm of always drinking tea because it wasn’t as easily available. As an outcome, the colonists gained independence from the Britain and were no longer forced to import their goods.
The Pequot war is the first reason America was becoming a warrior nation. The entire war started over Colonists wanting to expand, fur trade and several important members from each side being attacked and killed. They didn’t have enough room to grow all the tobacco they wanted, build more houses for more people and begin industrializing the area. The natives were just seen as a problem for expansion and were dealt with accordingly. Villages were raided and destroyed.
