We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” begins with the main character and his wife sleeping. Douglas quail wakes up and thinks about his plan to visit mars. His wife taunts him, as if he was dreaming a girl. He corrects her by telling her his dream “the god of war.” She recommends him to take a trip, instead of going to Mars. Douglas Quail sees the label of Rekal Incorporated. We are selling you dreams, as if they are real… Douglas sees this label, after he left his home to go to his work. Before Douglas leaves his home, Kristen asks where it 's going to lead meaning his behaviors, He replied to her question by saying “To Mars.” Douglas has a conversation with the Rekal and his dream. The conversation has done with a new character named McClain, who is the owner of Rekal. Douglas goes into operation but something goes wrong. Even his own wife suggests him to stop dreaming about things that can never come true. His desire of going to mars was so real that he went to The Rekal incorporated. Rekal has technology that is able to implant memories into the human brain. Rekal will implant the fake memory of mars, it was so real to Doug Quail as if he had actually gone to Mars. Douglas Quail going on a trip to mars not as a mere tourist on his holiday, but as a secret agent. Which lead him into so many troubles. His mind keeps pushing him to go to Mars. He has the memory of both tracks; he is stuck with what is real or what is fake.
