Alive
Attention is what some people need, especially at a young age. If they don't get what they ¨need¨ this, jealousy and frustration will be a result. An example of this is Dylan from the short story Alive. Throughout the story, the physical weather symbols intertwine with Dylan and his life in a metaphorical sense. He’s feeling very angry and isolated, and his family is falling apart. Every decision that’s made is always based off of whether or not “Nate's feeling well enough.” and Dylan’s had enough. The author Solwitz uses symbolism in her short story through different objects and elements. The intense storyline is represented within geography and weather symbolism to help reveal Dylan’s coming of age and loss of innocence.
