Community Policing Community policing is one of the more popular approaches to policing today. The basic philosophy of policing is altered from community policing. Community policing involves much more than just driving the patrol car throughout the community. Community policing can be confound, puzzling and time consuming and must be taken seriously in order to achieve any results. Through community policing so much can be accomplished but to be accepted by the community itself, it has to be presented in the proper manner. Robert C. Trojanowicz and Bonnie Bucqueroux are practically experts in Criminal Justice and hold PhD’s. They both offer very motivating and particular views on community policing and how it is viewed today. Trojanowicz centers his attention on the core of community policing and what it represents. Over the years the accomplishments and the course of actions of policing have changed considerably. However, the way it correlates to the community brings about the question if community policing can have a hold over today’s violent crime and dishonest drug trade. In addition, it also creates people to believe community policing is a socially acceptable expression that conceals the factual concern of crime within our communities. A magnificent amount of miscommunication is not informed enough on the essentials of community policing. “The direct, extended, face-to-face relationship between police officers and citizens is missing” (“Police-Community Relations Problems and Process,” 1972, para.). A statement, in which, Trojanowicz offered to signify the lack of community relationship supplied by officers walking the streets. It should have been obvious that law enforcement gain rapport and expand positive relationships with those that abide the law and particularly the general public that live in the city and urban areas. It is also necessary that law enforcement had to become incredibly active in an unquestionable way in the community because they are such an attraction for litigation and complaints. Americans tend to be alarmed about crime, more than ever when one feels defenseless upon an act of violence and that action illustrates the most important dilemma of crime. Therefore, altering the principal understanding and purpose of law enforcement and requesting the communities’ cooperation with getting engaged will allow law enforcement departments to place resources in the community. According to Trojanowicz, it has become visible that these non-working agendas do not work to determine the issues in sight of what law enforcement essentially do in the communities with the advancements and technology we have today. Needless to say, some communities have continuously had an over inflated obligation of the law enforcement, as if they have super powers to disentangle any crisis in seconds. The complicatedness and expenditure of being a more positive law enforcement organization, officials have edited programs, such as, Crime Prevention Programs to announce to local communities how they can put a stop to becoming a prey of crime themselves. Programs such as these and the accomplishment that they have carried on over the years have produced other significance in using the community, most recent technology and support to fight crime. A knowledgeable law enforcement officer would perhaps suggest that this would be an enormous obstacle to defeat, but an idle line of attack is not going to accomplish anything.
