Eugene Segers served in the military and “he was driving his armored patrol vehicle when a homemade bomb exploded in the road underneath the Seger’s floorboard… Just below his knee, Segers’ right leg was gone”, and his life had been changed forever. He was just a soldier, serving in the military, and lost his leg in what could have been a fatal accident. He showed courage and bravery in the military, and showed that same bravery during his long recovery and his life changing injury. On the subject of courage and bravery another man was brave in a difficult situation. Chesley Sullenburg acted with bravery when he landed a US Airways airplane perfectly onto the icy surface of the Hudson River and saving 155 passengers. He didn’t have to do it, he could have frozen in fear, but he took action. And while having 155 passengers lives on the line, he saved them all. When other people are in peril, or when something happens and it changes his/her life, they have the courage to get through
