Beethoven was an extremely gifted pianist and a revolutionary composer. A talented musician, he played an assortment of instruments including violin, viola, mandolin, organ and of course the piano. His father, a court musician, was his first teacher. Determined that young Beethoven would be the next Mozart, he would often force him out of bed to practice the piano at ungodly hours of the night. Beethoven soon began to study music with Christian Gottlob Neefe.
