When a group of people carry out an act of civil disobedience, their motive is never to resort to violence or cause harm to society, but simply to convey a symbolic message. It is done in order to resist government who have made certain laws or commands that they don’t agree with. Basically, civil disobedience is about taking a stand for what is felt to be right.
I believe that the pros of civil disobedience definitely outweigh the cons. In elementary school, the one act of peaceful resistance that I was most familiar with was the Civil Rights Movement lead by Martin Luther King Jr. Whether I was in class discussing historical and influential figures, or watching a documentary of his life on television with my family, I always felt quite moved by his story. I was inspired by the fact that his simple acts of resistance were strategically done in a nonviolent way, even though his enemies gave him every reason to turn physical and aggressive. He was still able to make a huge impact without choosing the other route. It proved that resorting to violence is not the only alternative to solving tough situations in life.

It was organized in order to aid in promoting the rights and equality in women and humans as a whole.
