A Placeholder Prime Minister Departs. What Comes Next? by Mohammed Ademo and Hassen Hussein outlines the resignation of Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia. I think that this article is very well written, because after reading it, I feel as though I am well informed about Ethiopia's political system, the recent history of corruption and the imposition of martial law, and the succession crisis stemming from Mr. Hailemariam's resignation. Hussein and Ademo write very concisely, but each sentence seems in place and ties well into the narrative - each loose end brought into the article seems to be tied up by the end. Additionally, Ademo and Hussein use language that makes me want to continue my research into the issue - they bring up that "the status quo is no longer tenable. The crisis in Ethiopia is a very complicated issue, and is especially difficult for someone like myself to understand, as someone who knows little about Ethiopia. However, I feel as though everything was explained well enough for me to understand it as printed. In Lipinski's article about figure skating, however, I felt very confused by some of the language she uses. For example, Lipinski says, "We added a triple loop, triple loop combination to my program, and I became the first women to land one in competition." Throughout the article, she brings up the "triple loop" several more times, but fails to explain what it is, and what is so difficult or impressive about it that earned her a gold medal in 1998. I feel as though Lipinski's job of discussing how the US Olympic Women's Skating Team needs to be more creative and push the envelope is easier than Ademo's and Hussein's task of discussing the Ethiopian political crisis, but I feel so much less understanding of the points that she brings
