Our first president of the United States George Washington said, "My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her." When I saw this quote for the first time I knew that it was perfect for what I felt for my mother. My mom, a person that has had a tremendous influence on me, is the bravest and most hardworking women I have ever come to know. Esperanza Novela, the fifth child out of twelve children, was raised in Colima, Mexico in a very strict and low-income home that consisted of my grandparents, Esperanza and Antonio Novela. My mother had many obstacles in her life, my grandfather didn't want her or her siblings to go to school because he wanted them to work to contribute money towards the house. At the age of seven, my mom started working which consisted of washing dishes at the local restaurant and helping her father sell sour cream, cheese, chicken and bread. Despite the hardships of her childhood my mother was able to get a degree in accounting at the University of Colima and became successful. My mother's influence has made me who I am today and who I will forever be. Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself. Growing up my mom taught me and my sisters many things, your usual life lessons you might say. But my mom's influence didn't come from her story telling but it came from her life's experiences.
