I am going to tell you what happened to the taco that I ate on taco Tuesday. This is a very long process that starts with the taco itself. Digestion starts when you just look at food or smell it. In this process, your saliva glands produce saliva in your mouth. Saliva is an enzyme that breaks down your food before your stomach and other intestines do the heavy duty work. This process is called salvation. From this process, the food then goes into your mouth. In your mouth, there is both chemical digestion and mechanical digestion. Chemical digestion is when the food is broken down using chemicals such as you saliva or stomach acid.
