Anderson’s unique narrative shows that the adults are more concerned about other things than the welfare of their children. Suzy’s parents are caught up in marital troubles; their daughter feels that she is the sole reason of their growing separation. As shown through this film, parents nowadays do not have the time for their own children, and naturally the children subconsciously separate themselves from their parents’ lives. Anderson purposefully connects the lives of the characters to the audience as we relate to the familial issues that surround them.
