In the aftermath of World War II, a new state which was regarded as a Soviet Union satellite state was founded in 1948. North Korea is a country under complete authority, totalitarianism and dictatorship with a society which has fallen ill. It seems to the world that the governing system which can’t possibly function in any other countries, has it’s own way of keeping the people under control. However, it continues to face more challenges as the people are exposed to the popular culture while the country itself is still in isolation with an economy and education system that have fallen behind. Attention has drown people around the globe especially the South Koreans to work out ways to help those who were “locked- up” in this awfully inclosed society. This led Kim Jong-un’s authority to undergo high risks of being challenged or even threatened. Communist countries like North Korea have always favored the use of “propaganda” to advertise and idolize the leaders and the regime. One way the party used to keep the people under control is to isolate them from any other popular culture; as a result, most North Korean had not any idea of what the rest of the world would be like until they were secretly exposed to those popular culture on purpose. Many South Koreans including a few who have defected from North Korea are involved in activities with only one purpose, that is , to let the people “know”. Sneaking in movies including Hollywood, Chinese and all kinds of Korean movies, people from the outside world showed their intention to acknowledge the North Koreans how “different” the rest of the world actually is from what they’ve been taught and told. Movies were the ones that have been mostly smuggled in North Korea because South Koreans know there won’t be a better way to show North Koreans the “truth” other than providing them with the visuals. North Korea has claimed that it has conducted three successful nuclear tests in 2006, 2009 and again in 2013. Recently, Chinese experts believe that North Korea is expanding their nuclear arsenal and that there are many signs indicating the increased numbers of bombs. Evidences showed that North Korea sees their nuclear power as a efficient way to “protect” the nation from the international pressures. Zhu Feng, a leading Chinese security expert at Peking University said, “The Kim Jong Un regime thinks they will ensure their survival, as the bigger their nuclear arsenal will be, the less likely they will be hurt.” (Macleod, 04/23/2015) Admittedly, North Korean’s nuclear power is not to be neglected; It is a warning to the world and especially countries who are in close and oppose relationship with North Korea; Countries like China, United State and last but not least South Korea would need to take more cautious and serious actions toward North Korea regime. It is reported that “The country can put these on at least medium-range missiles capable of hitting most targets in Japan and South Korea, and it is developing longer range missiles to reach the USA.” Kim Jung-un and his regime has obviously seen it as an affective way to stabilize their control that has been questioned
