The Art Critic is a modeled sculpture by Philippe Faraut. The piece is a three-dimensional media which possesses a physical presence, or “matter” and a temporal dimension the “time” that the audience experiences walking in and around the piece. The form of this piece is representational. The content of the artwork is a sculpture of an art critic and we can clearly see by the expression and the emotion on his face that he is looking at something with a critical eye. Faraut used the additive process to create this sculpture which means he built the work by adding material to complete the work. This piece is a sculpture-in-the-round and demands movement. The sculpture is meant to be seen from all sides, and the viewer must around to see the work.
