Development of Concrete and the Arch in Ancient Rome The invention of concrete by the Romans and the importance it had with the new forms of architecture and ways of building which included the arch will be discussing in this paper. Concrete enabled for the formation of new techniques and resulted in some of the most famous structures very produce and some still standing today.

The invention of concrete by the Romans enabled them to achieve there desires to create grand and unique structures. The base material of the concrete was a chocolate-colored volcanic soil called pozzolana. This was discovered near Puteoli and later vast quantities were found around Rome. The pozzolana was mixed lime, chipped rock or bricks to form concrete.
