Madam C.J. Walker (born Sarah Breedlove on December 23, 1867) lived near Delta, Louisiana during her early years. She moved around a lot after becoming an orphan at seven years old. She began working as a commission sales agent under hair-care entrepreneur, Annie Turnbo Malone. While working for Malone, Walker developed her own hair-care business.
