Tragedy’s Purpose A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgement error that inevitably leads to his or her own destruction. In “Julius Caesar” William Shakespeare uses the character Julius Caesar to portray a tragic hero. Similarly in Charleston South Carolina Kathrynn Dennis is the tragic hero. Julius Caesar and Kathryn Dennis are both high ranking heros with a downfall. The townspeople look up to” Julius Caesar”. This is illustrated when Calpurnia says, “ Here, my lord” (Shakespeare 132).
