Chronicle of a Death Foretold, written by Gabriel García Marquez, provides the reader with a strong feeling of confusion due to the complexity of Marquez’s writing style and the themes of magical realism. Through the interactive oral, I was able to understand the messages conveyed through the text and that the culture in this society had a profound effect on the plot. The evident themes of magical realism, such as machismo, carnivalesque, as demonstrated through the wedding, and hybridity, can easily related back to the cultural implications of Latin American society, in this case Columbia, which is based off of faulty honor, unnecessary celebration, and obliviousness.
