Some Title I Don’t Know
While reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, I became very interested in the role of alcohol in the lives of the Walls as well as its effect on society as a whole. Grieved by the crib death of his second daughter, Mary Charlene (27), Rex Walls began to withdraw from his reality through the use of alcohol. As the alcohol addiction took hold of him, he dragged his family through his own downward spiral of abuse – a situation which led him to allow his own beloved children to suffer starvation and gross neglect.
