Utah’s location and environment played a major part in its history. Utah is a remote state located in the west. There is not much water in the desert for a people to survive off. This was what the trappers said as the Mormons came into the valley. It was not a desirable spot for people to live and not as well-known as California. However, the Mormons settled the area and worked hard to irrigate the land. They made it possible to live off the land, so they could support themselves with farms.
