Nathan Currie Mr. Hatchell Honors English 9 5/17/24 What lessons did Odyssesus learn on his journey? The story of The Odyssey is one of strife and hardship. Odysseus fought and fought, he lost men, he alienated himself from his wife unknowingly, not to mention the outrageous acts of violence committed by him and his crew. When the story’s played out, it looks awful. All things being said, it sounds like Odysseues has the utmost hatred for people who aren't his crew, killing and leaving anyone they seem not fit to cross their paths. But that's all the bad, and no good. That's just one side of a multi-sided story. However all was not lost, Odysseus came home with knowledge and lessons he learned. On his journey he learned the significance of thinking his actions out before doing anything and to do your best at all times because you never know who may be counting on you. All things have consequences, although some may be minute, your actions will have effects. Imagine if you will, two scenarios, one in which a small but hurtful action is done to someone, this can be visualized as a stone dropped into water creating ripples, the water is no longer quiet and peaceful, it is displaced by the stone thrown in.
