I personally found the whole entire presentation very meaningful. Specially the part that discuss what makes life more fulfilling and full of happiness. As said in the presentation “ Then pleasure’s the whipped cream and the cherry which is to say, in the full life ..the sum is greater than the part, if you go all three.” When an individual has the engagement ( their family and the relationships in their life) and their pleasant life( the positive emotion) then they are believed to have a full life. Were each part of their life makes up part of them and having these two combined with pressure creates a fulfilling life. Such as multiple psychologist in the past where focussed on conscious minds, behaviour and the environment vs inheritance of people and how it affects them , Such as Wundt who study the basic elements that make up the conscious mental experiences and William James who studied how mental processes help humans or animals adapt. Seligman on the other hand made a good observation that the past 60 of psychology has been about studying this miserable making their life less miserable but they forgot about the some aspects such as people make decisions, that they have responsibility and they forgot about improving normal lives. They also never developed a positive intervention to make people happy. That is why Seligman with the help of other psychologists created positive psychology. Where they are concerned with strength as the weakness of people. To be interested in building the best things as in repairing the worst. And To help make normal people's lives more fulfilling and to heal pathology. Using the same ways as traditional psychology but pushing towards making life more happy with the studies
