What You Pawn I Will Redeem is an intrigue story, where the narrator started with a puzzle. “One day you have a home and the next you don’t, but I am not going to tell you my particular reasons for being homeless, …” (8) Jackson is a young man who left his hometown Spokane, Washington for college to Seattle. He failed college only after two semesters, failed marriages, could not even remember how many kids he had fathered. He admitted having mental problem, “Of course crazy is not the official definition of my mental problem” (9). He is a homeless wanderer Indian who does not like to go into details when it comes to his personal life; but one day he fell into his grandmother legacy that have been stolen for decades at a pawnshop.
One day as he was wandering the street as usual with his regular friends his teammates as he called them Rose of Sharon, and Junior. He came across his grandmother powwow-dance regalia, at a pawnshop that he never notices before. He went inside the store, after convincing the pawnshop owner that it belongs to his family by recognized it because of his family logo the yellow bead. They came into an agreement that he will received it only if he can pay nine hundred and ninety-nine dollars the price the owner had bought it for.
