A devastating event in the history of America, it was in 1941 when Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The thousands of lives that were loss at the unexpected attack in Pearl harbor provoked the United States to fight the Japanese empire and enter world war II. However, the Japanese empire were unstoppable and had been relentless on extending the country’s power thus President Truman decided that it was time to end the war with Japan. Moreover, he does not want to jeopardize anymore lives that were on the line. In result, Truman retaliated by using a powerful weapon that wiped out a whole state in Japan; Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was in the year 1945 when truman informed the nation that an atomic weapon has been detonated in Japan. A powerful decision that raised controversial arguments in the history of America. Up until this day, it raised questions, such as if the dropping of the atomic bomb necessary to bring about a Japanese surrender or did it just show how powerful and terrifying America can be with possessing this kind of deadly weapon. …show more content…
Moreover, one of the thing that Truman stresses out as one of the greatest occurrence in mankind was the achievement of scientific brains in creating such weapon. To some people what Truman did was a heroic act, however some people questioned Truman’s decision to be
