The article “Who Holds the Clicker?” by Lauren Slater, is about a character named Mario Della Grotta. Mario has obsessive compulsive disorder, OCD for short, and undergoes a medical procedure knowns as Deep Brain Stimulation. The Deep Brain Stimulation helps fixes neurological diseases by using electrodes and wires that connect to the affected spot in the brain which then shut down the nerve cells disrupting the process of that disease. Mario used to live in constant fear and depression, he would repeatedly continue to do the same actions and repeat the same words. The medical procedure changed Mario’s life forever.
