The court refused to believe the girls were lying because the girls acted like they were being hurt or threatened by random people. With the town in chaos Abigail was in complete control which allowed her to get what she wanted. Towards the end when Elizabeth was framed, John told Mary Warren to speak the truth to the court. Being afraid of the girls and losing her friendship with them kept her from speaking the truth. Mary instead lies to the court and John Proctor is pleaded guilty. Conversely however, Abigail could be considered innocent. For Example, throughout Abigail’s life she had absolutely no valuable role models. No one had ever taught her morals or to be honorable. Now she is a naughty, evil girl who lies and causes trouble. Which is why she has caused all of this trouble in Salem. In conclusion, Abigail should be the prosecuted and done away with for the crucible in Salem. Many innocent people died due to her horrible decisions and actions. She should suffer the fate as her other townspeople did. Locking her up wouldn’t do any good because somehow she would figure some way out like she always does. By eliminating the problem the problems would resolve in the town. Thus the witchcraft hysteria will end and the town will be back to
