Abraham Lincoln went to the Ford`s Theatre to attend the play "Our American cousin". In Washington D.C. Booth was a famous actor. Which meant that he had unlimited access to the theater(he could go any where he wanted in the theater). His original plan was to kidnap the president. He actually wanted to assassinate the president. The two types of weapons he had were a pistol and a dagger. The way I know this by getting on google and going to Wikipedia. The guard had went after Booth, but he was ready. Booth had also a dagger. He defended himself by stabbing the guard. After that Booth ran away, he jumped from the presidents box and he landed on the stage. He had broken his leg. Booth had been chased since then. The way he died was thanks to gunshot wound.
