During the harsh times of World War II, the Holocaust took place, where the Jews were being exterminated simply just for being. Many were afraid to speak out against those who stood for what was wrong, especially at the risk of being harmed. However, it was the few who showed true courage to speak out against the Nazis and their leader Hitler like Irena Sendler, Sir Nicholas Winton, and the Scholl siblings, who are the reason so many lives were saved. Although not as popular as things similar to the Schindler’s list, these unrecognized heroes were able to save so many lives. A popular quote said, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” In these cases, good men, and women rose to the occasion and fought for what was right even though they risked being caught, harmed, or even killed. …show more content…
After reading, one can conclude that Sir Nicholas Winton's actions were truly heroic and showed how one person's kindness can make a big difference, especially during those difficult times. Sir Nicholas Winton, not having to make a change, took a stand and changed the world for the better. His efforts in organizing the rescue of more than 600 children from Czechoslovakia in World War II showcased immense courage and compassion. He faced multiple hardships in convincing other large groups to save those children. Winton's selflessness and determination to save those children, fueled the rescue known as the Czech Kindertransport. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of standing up against injustice and the impact that one person's actions can have on the lives of many. As well as a powerful example of courage that inspires us to help those in need, no matter the challenges
