In “Trifles” Mrs. Wright a widow after Mr. Wright’s horrific suicide is under two investigators investigation. Since this is a dialogue, it does not possess a narrator, however it carries a five character setting at the beginning of the dialogue which starts in the kitchen. Throughout the dialogue, women are carrying their own investigation as the man carry their own, hence this seems a bit bias, but during the period of time this dialogue takes place, women weren’t treated as serious as man were. To Henry Peters (sheriff) Mrs. Wright’s testimony seemed a bit bias, and that’s why all the man went up the stairs to investigate the scene, while Mrs. Wright was more concerned about trifles with the fellow female companionship, rather than worrying or curious herself of the mysterious hanging of her husband. As a reader, my response to this short dialogue of a possible murder would lead to distinct verdict of Mrs. Wright being the one who has part taken in his suicide. Mrs. Wright being held responsible for the murder seem quite queer, worrisome about her preserves, and unresponsive to possible scuffle. Wright’s way of acting when Hale entered the room was oblivious of what has happened in the upstairs bedroom. Hale precedes the county attorney to the rocker he saw Mrs. Wright racking back and forth, describing her as “queer” saying that “she had her apron in her hand and was kind of-pleating it”. The attorney then condiments the scene and asks Hale “what do you mean – queer?” Hale answered “well, as if she didn’t know what she was going to do next. And kind of done up.” To Hale that seemed unusual that she was acting in such way as she knew that her husband was hanging down the rope dead. Mrs. Wright queer reaction defines her as a self-dependent woman, and tired of the chores she had to do for the man. This seems like a quantified motive that could have led her into horrific actions towards her
