In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, she takes us on a journey through all of the major conflicts of her life. But, one that stands out to me to the very end is her inability to realize that her parents are never going to change. Jeannette's father likes to be reassured that he’s doing a good job, so he uses Jeannette’s inability to hurt him against her. “You leave that to me. Don’t I always take care of you? Dad asked,” “‘course you do,’ Jeannette said.” (Walls 17) This quote represents how truly naive she was when she was younger.
