Arthur Miller's play the “Crucible” is based on witchcraft trials held in 1692 and ended in tragedy. The trails were held to save and help the people of Salem, if accused you were either basically forced to confess of witchcraft and if you didn’t confess then you would hang in front of the whole town. The characters that tried to fight the unjust court hanged for it. There wasn’t much for you to do if you were accused, you are in a corner. The characters that try to take down the court have admirable qualities and each character has one flaw or mistake that ruins their chances of getting any justice.
