Tiberius Gracchus died in 133 BC. He was murdered by his opponents after his overruling of the tribunician veto. This was considered illegal and a violation of the constitution, but he did it for the poor people of Rome.
Tiberius was born between 169 and 164 BC. He was born to the mother Cornelia Africana and the father Tiberius Gracchus the elder. He had a brother named Gaius Gracchus. He will be leaving his wife Claudia Pulchra a widow after his passing. His family was the Gracchi branch of the gens Sempronia which was one of the most politically connected families in Rome.
His most important accomplishment was his legislation on the matter of homelessness among legionnaires. It was not a peaceful time in Rome, over the past hundred years there has been several wars. The lower class men were required to serve a complete military campaign as legionnaires; as a result there was no one left to work their farms and eventually went bankrupt. After bankruptcy the farms were sold to very wealthy men of the higher class; they made slaves to work the farm, this meant that there were no jobs for the free common man. In 126 BC he became a quaestor in the Roman province Sardinia. During his quaestorship he honed his skills in oratory. During a harsh winter in Sardinia Gaius made a personal appeal to the government to aid him and his troops with supplies. They ordered his garrison to be replaced, but for him to remain at his post. Gaius came back to Rome to appeal the senate's decision. While in Rome the senate accused him unlawfully many times; he was able to brush off each accusation easily and skillfully.
