I believe Montresor is innocent because Montresor was not anywhere near Fortunato the he disappeared. Fortanauto was intoxicated at the party. So when he disappeared that night he could have killed himself on accident. Fortunato might have died from drunk driving or he could have overdosed on the alcohol and killed himself. Nobody knows if Fortunato was with somebody or by himself. If he was with somebody that person might have harmed him. Fortunato loved wine and he thought he was an expert in wine. He bragged about it so much that somebody could have got tired of him always bragging and slipped something in his wine that he was about to taste. Montresor is innocent because there was no evidence found to prove that Montresor committed
