Who were the victims of Hooverville? Many people became homeless when the stock market crashed in October of 1929 and the banks failed because everybody was withdrawing money they had no more to give which led at least 4000 banks to close permanently and some just closed temporarily. Therefore, with the lack of money around, people couldn't afford to keep their homes. Which led to people seeking shelter and if they couldn’t find it they would build it and with more homeless on the rise they soon became small towns and some big. These towns became known as Hoovervilles, which are towns made by the homeless and run by the homeless during The Great Depression, which lasted from late 1929 to 1941.
