We put our life in jeopardy when we break them.
Ever since the transcontinental railroad was laid down, trains have been used for multiple things. To carry cargo, and passengers. Today, trains are still being used. But, our technology has greatly increased. Ours trains, are faster and more powerful. Even in Utah, the Trax provide services to many people all around the salt lake valley.
Because are so useful, they are going to be continued to be used for a long time; so we need to learn how to properly conduct ourselves around trains and railroad crossing.

Check for signal lights, stop signs, and road markings. If the way is clear, go through with caution but don’t go to slow. If your car is a manual, do not change gears on the tracks. If your car stalls, get everyone out. If no train is coming, try to get the car off the tracks. If a train is approaching, run toward the train on the side of the tracks; this is for cover from flying debris. A train can not stop. If the gate is closed, come to a complete stop at least 15 feet from the nearest rail. Be extra aware of trains at night. By law, Every vehicle is required to stop at a railroad crossing. This includes bikes, motorcycles, and school buses. Never race a train, you won’t win. Never walk on or along train tracks.
Light rail trains are operated by power from electric lines. They are very fast, and very dangerous. An example of a light rail train is the Utah Trax system. A few years ago, someone we knew got hit by a light rail train. A woman with family, living in centerville was driving one night and didn't take precaution around the train tracks. A light rail train came speeding up and hit her car. The woman was nearly killed but was rushed to the hospital. She stayed in rehab for almost a whole year. This
