Why baby’s first cry is so important?
The moment your newborn first come to the world, all the care is dedicated on the arrival. All you want to do is hold and cuddle your baby, however meanwhile both you and your physician are looking for signs of healthy functioning lungs as well, sitting tight in expectation for your child's first cry.
In normal conditions, newborn babies starts crying just a few seconds after being born. Listening to this throaty cry surprisingly will sound like music to ears, implying the fact that you’ve given birth to a healthy baby.
But what is so important about your baby’s first cry?
It is truly basic – doctors consider good cry a sign of baby’s healthy lungs. It’s like a test to check whether the baby’s lungs are functioning well. Immediately after a newborn baby is born, babies are anticipated to cry in 30 to 60 seconds of their lives. This crying is important for the child to survive since inside the mom's uterus, the newborns don't take breath through their lungs. The umbilical cord is the medium which provide them with nutrition, fresh oxygen and take away carbon-dioxide from their circulation system. The babies need to breathe on their own once they are outside their mother’s womb.
