There are various other reasons why George could have killed Lennie because overall the murder does not make any sense. Yes, Curley was searching for Lennie to punish him but George’s first instinct should not have been to kill his “friend” and I use the term friend loosely because George was so rude to Lennie I do not know if he can even be considered that. Instead, he should have at least considered running away, before immediately rushing to kill Lennie. This just shows me that George probably had a deeper meaning for killing Lennie other than to save him. In my opinion, George saw Lennie as a burden and this event is definitely not Euthanasia and it is not like he tried to hide his dislike, he told Lennie various times that he would be better off without him because deep down George wanted Lennie gone. I think that George killing Lennie is not justified and he deserves to live a sad miserable life for killing the only person who cared about him in his whole
