The U.S political system wasn't built in a day, but actually had many ups, and downs before it became the system it is now. It all begins when North America declared their independence in 1776, and became their own country. As they declared their independence they wanted a government that was run by people for the people. Not soon later the U.S. Constitution was created in 1787, and so a written constitution was made to limit government powers, and give more rights to the people. At this point in our history we already see a glimpse of democracy but it wasn't for a few more decades that democracy is the main source of leadership in this country. In 1828 a man named Andrew Jackson won the presidential election over John Quincy Adams who was known in U.S as corrupt president by the way he was elected into office. Andrew Jackson won the election in a landslide with over seventy percent of votes in the electoral college, and their being more than doubled the turnout in 1824. “He boldly proclaimed himself to be the champion of the common man and believed that their interests were ignored by the aggressive national economic plans of Clay and Adams”(USHISTORY). The Jacksonian democracy was a movement to the democratic republican party of the Jeffersonians and became factionalized during 1820s, Jackson's supporters started to create a more modern democratic party.
