North Defeats the South
The North and the South during the Civil War were both very well equip for war considering they used to be fighting together. Although during the Civil War there could only be one side that could excel and show they were better. The North proved this by doing three key events to win the war. The North had Abe. Lincoln, had a better economy, and had won the Battle of Antietam.
Lincoln was well known for achieving various things, including the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation said that all current slaves were then freed, and that Europe couldn't intervene in the war on behalf of the South. It also allowed free blacks to fight for the Union in the Civil War. If it weren't for Jefferson Davis passing up Lincoln's offer saying the South could keep their slaves as long as they rejoin the U.S. then the Emancipation wouldn't have been put in place (Schwartz 590-603). The blacks helped the North by giving them more motivation to fight. Also it gave them more population later helping them outlast the South in battle. As earlier mentioned, the Emancipation Proclamation said Europe couldn't intervene in the war. The North were allies with Europe and Europe offered to help the North but Lincoln declined. The North ended up winning this battle. Although the North had a large advantage over the South the whole time. During the war the South wrote their battle plans down which they ended up loosing. The North got ahold of them giving them the knowledge of the South's battle plans. "It had been widely stated that the Maryland civilian present when McClellan was handed the operational plan..." (Sears, 350). Since the North had the South's battle plans it made it easier to defeat them, and it also helped that the North had a larger population of
