Why Do Juveniles Last Their Time

Do juveniles really need to be sentenced for life, even if they’ve proven that they changed their way of living during the years that they spent in jail? I think juveniles should be given a second chance if they’re well rehabilitated and have proven that they have changed. No matter how bad the crime that they committed was. Juveniles are not aware of what they are doing because their brain is not fully developed yet, meaning whatever they do is not carefully thought out. According to some researchers, teenagers experience a massive loss of brain tissue during these years. The majority of the juveniles that got convicted for a long time and served their time had already grown out of the crime. Even if they seem mature enough for their age, there’s still a part of them that shows how childish they really are, mainly because they can’t make good decisions in their life. …show more content…
Kids feel that they should always try to resolve a conflict that’s happening around them, especially if they’re also affected by it. Their brain is still developing due to their age, and that’s the reason why they do things impulsively. They could also have a reason why these things happen, like living with people who act the same way, this causes them to think that what they do is okay.

Most kids want to belong to certain friend groups and they get peer pressured into doing something they don’t want to do just because they want to fit in. Commonly, these kids will always try to impress their friends by doing something their friends probably wouldn’t do. Their friends can easily manipulate them into doing bad things like stealing, drinking, or smoking, even if they don’t want to just for them to feel like they belong. A lot of children get exposed to drugs at a very young age because of people around them trying to influence them and making them try it
