A discussion that was brought in my high school class was that marine mammals do not belong in captivities, or in sea-aquariums. Some people think that it is not right for the animals because they have feelings too, and others think about the money. The ones who think about the money are the ones who own sea-aquariums and will get a lot of visitors who would like to see a giant whale for the first time. Here in Florida most tourists go to the Miami Sea-aquarium and I went there too. Marine mammals deserve to be in the ocean where they can swim endlessly, and not in a tank where they can barely swim for two minutes without seeing the same wall over and over again. Negative Effects
Marine mammals such as dolphins and whales swim for about half an hour straight without stopping. They swim miles and miles in the ocean, to all of a sudden get taken away from their family, their environment and their freedom, to be put in a tank. That is inhumane to do with such animal. Animals have feelings to. It is just like if people come and take you away from your family without caring how you feel about it. These types of marine mammals can dive up to hundred meters underwater. Whales and dolphins need the ocean just like people need air. In a tank in captivity they can only swim for a short period of time, most of the time less than one minute before they get to the wall. And it is almost impossible to keep a group of mammals in the same tank, without them fighting with each other and making each other bleed. They are forced to be swimming in circles
