Thomas Jefferson had an insatiable desire for reading books. He loved learning new things. He is said to have stated that he couldn’t live without books; he had 6,487 of them. The love of books by itself is not that interesting, but because of this desire for them, he was a self-taught architect. This led to him helping design the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.
