Pluto then snatched Proserpina and shoved her into the carriage. She was in so much distraught that she couldn’t fight back. “Please let me go” she begged. “I want you to live with me in my dominions, I have food and water just for you. You will enjoy it here.”
When they had finally arrived, Pluto tried to convince Proserpina to eat. He had an array of fruits, vegetables, and meats along a table. “I will never eat from you Pluto” she said. Meanwhile, Mother Ceres was panicking for her child. For months, she tried to find Proserpina but couldn’t. She had been so worried for her daughter that she could not care for her crops, so they died.
Nobody was able to eat so the petitioned Quicksilver to be sent to Pluto’s kingdom to find Proserpina. When he found her, she was pitiful and desolated. “Are you not terribly hungry? Is there nothing which I can get you to eat?"
