Being held captive by someone is not fun, no matter the reason, so what makes it okay when Polyphemus holds Odysseus captive? While on the way home from the Trojan War, Polyphemus found and held Odysseus and his men captive in his cave. Since Odysseus got trapped, he would obviously want to get out no matter what it takes. So Odysseus and his men end up blinding him and making an escape. All Odysseus did was protect himself and use his strategic thinking skills.
