Why Is Australia A Nanny Country

There is no doubt that Australia is a nanny state, some actually argue that Australia has turned into one of the world’s strongest enforcing nanny state. Australia was once known as laid back and very fair with their people. A country whose citizens were friendly folk who lived a relaxed life style. It seems now however that the country has done a complete flip and by slowly incrementing more and more laws to restrict it citizens’ rights and freedoms has jumped its way to the other end of the spectrum being one of the most controlling and overprotective democratic countries. In saying that I am in no way saying that a protective country is a bad thing, however there is a point when a country can become to controlling over its citizens.

Australia is one of the safest countries someone can live, and is very fair to its citizens in most cases. Australia also runs smoothly and does not face the issues that many other countries face. An example of this is that we have far less gun related deaths, Crimes and road accidents then almost any other country in the world. Australia’s cities are often voted as some of the most liveable cities in the world, with Melbourne being rated the most liveable for 4 years running. A lot of people complain about Australia’s strict approach to smoking and drinking, however these new policies are hoping to and will likely have a positive impact on the citizens. For example the often described as ridiculous tax on cigarettes has been strongly proven to reduce the amount of people smoking or at the very least to reduce the amount of cigarettes smoked. Due to a recent rise in king hit incidents, now labelled the cowards punch, bars are being forced to stop the sale of alcohol earlier and to close earlier as well. This at first may seem unreasonable but if it does help to reduce the number of one punch hit incidents then it is far from unreasonable. With this in mind not all of these recently implemented laws can be so easily explained and do seem overly protective and
