They are important parts of him. He almost sees them as his own children, being he has watched them grow up their whole life. This is a prime factor in the conclusion of Boo’s innocents. He is utterly mistreated, not only mistreated however misunderstood, and through all of that feelings as the ones that develop are able to develop. Most would not be able to rise above quite to the extent Boo does.
It’s hinted that Boo may have some sort of mental illness, or some form of mental disability. This furthers his innocents and true value as a character. When referring to the quote in the book, “Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy…” This is what Boo is to the story. Boo in nothing but positive influences on the story, let alone Jem and Scout, not only caring and tending to their well being, but even the well being of some of their personal belongings.
